Law of Threes
I like this quote from Bill Simmons:
Our friend Mike Lombardi did a tremendous job describing Tom Coughlin's coaching style over at the National Football Post last week: "He is using a very simple leadership strategy called the 'Law of Threes.' On each team there are three types of players. The first are the ones who will do anything that is asked, willing to help the program. The second group are the undecided players, the players who are not sure what to do. And the third are the malcontents. These are the players who want to buck the system all the time and try to break down the team. As a leader, there is a tendency to try to win over the players in group three by trying to make them happy. But all that does is move the players from group two into group three, and cause you to start to lose the players in group one. What Coughlin has done is focus on group one. He pays no attention to group three and what has resulted is that Plaxico is on an island and no one wants to join him. The team is bigger than Plaxico."

Working from home is not all that...
I am working from home two days a week as my ankle hees and am finding working from home is not as glamorous as it sounds. Being in an operations role I have no sense as to what is going on in the office and what the hot items are. I am completely dependent on my team telling me what is going on versus hearing and seeing it in real time.
I am excited to be able to walk again and get back into my routine

punks 2, cell phones 0
fell into the river today while trying for a daddy/punks bonding moment of fishing. Cell phone & digital camera are now ruined, creating a nice $300+ entry into the 'Stupid' category in our family budget. The punks did not help the situation when they started laughing at me. If I didn't lose over $300 with my two second plunge I would of found it pretty funny also.
oh well. Punk-alina got a Dora fishing rod out of it and is showing an interest in fishing so I will take it.

neighbors
so the punk-aroo (my boy) blew a foam rocket into our neighbors yard who have always been friendly to us and the punks. So I went into their bushes to dig it out. They were not a fan of this. They told me I had to tell them before I rooted around in the bushes. Fair enough, but caught me off guard
Lesson of the day: before rooting around in old people's bushes looking for your kid's toys, let old people know

Lessons
so I am going to try a new format. I have been searching for a theme for this and decided to start writing the lessons I learn each day. I had been writing them in a little book I carry around, but decided to give this a shot. They will probably come off as simple no brainers, but I have learned them all the hard way
